Aspergillus fumigatus      Histone locus body

※ Histone locus body introduction

The histone locus body (HLB) contains factors required for processing histone pre-mRNAs, which is present throughout the interphase of the cell cycle, but disappear during mitosis. It is associated with the genes that code for histones, suggesting that it may function to concentrate processing factors at their site of action (1). Besides, as one of the coilin-containing bodies like Cajal bodies , HLB in nuclei of late two-cell embryos are heterogeneous in both morphology and molecular composition, but their heterogeneity is not related to the number of coilin-positive intranuclear HLB structures (2).
